Our next Auction should not be missed, it features the collection of the late B. Sundstrup which included some of the most important pieces of huon pine, and the most comprehensive collections of treen in the country, featured in publications. The auction features the only known pair of matching birdseye huon pine occasional tables in existence, having been in the collection of William (Bill ) Mitchell who had the largest and best collection of early colonial huon pine furniture in Australia, his daughter the late Anne Sundstrup inherited them eventually ending up with the late Dr. Bertel Sundstrup. This is the first time they have been offered to the public, having been in the same family since the early 1900’s.
We are also pleased to present the large Haughton Forrest oil painting “Clipper off Iron Pot Lighthouse” measuring 47 x 77cm which comes with a certificate of authenticity.
There are two smaller Haughton Forrest oil landscapes, watercolours by John Glover, a small old painting by Italian old master Andrea Locatelli and many other pieces of attractive and important art.
Of particular historical interest we have a unique Thylacine trap from the Rocky Cape area in working and preserved condition and a colonial era buggy rug made of feral cat pelts.
There are too many objects of interest and value as well as fine pieces of furniture to list here but the whole catalogue with photographs can be found at www.tullochsauctions.com.au
